Sports and training injury care
Training load changes faster than tissue capacity. That is the usual story behind a calf twinge, a stiff lumbar spine after deadlifts, or a shoulder that complains in the overhead positions.
Dr Choi sees recreational athletes, gym-goers and people who work physically and train around that work. His own training history including climbing, cycling, strength work, dragon-boat racing. It is context for that caseload. It does not change the standard of examination.
Presentations commonly discussed
Calf, hamstring and adductor strain after a spike in running or field work
Lumbar and thoracic stiffness after lifting
Rib and side-wall discomfort after a heavy pulling session or a collision
Shoulder irritation in pressing, swimming or paddling
Return-to-training after a period off
Each of those still needs an individual assessment. Names on this list are not diagnoses.
What a session is for
The job is to work out what tissue is irritable, what load started it, and what you can keep doing without digging the hole deeper. Hands-on treatment may reduce local restriction. The useful part is often the change to training for the next one to two weeks.
Return-to-training
Return is graded. Pain-free in the clinic is not the same as ready for a full session. If the presentation looks like a complete tear, a suspected stress injury, or something that needs imaging, you will be directed to your GP or a sports physician.
When this clinic is not enough
Night pain that is getting worse, unexplained swelling, fever, numbness with weakness, or trauma you have not had checked are GP or emergency problems first.
Osteopathy is a musculoskeletal healthcare profession. Dr Choi assesses and treats the muscles, joints and related tissues that may be contributing to your symptoms. He does not treat non-musculoskeletal disease, and he will refer you to your GP when that is the safer path.

FAQ
Do I need to stop training completely? Not always. That decision follows examination. Sometimes the load is changed rather than stopped.
Do you treat only elite athletes? No. Most of the book is working adults who train.
Will I get a written program? You will get specific advice for the next interval. This clinic does not issue an unsupervised 12-week plan from the website.
