How an osteopath assesses this

History includes trauma, dizziness, visual change, arm numbness or weakness, headache pattern, and medical red flags. Examination looks at cervical and thoracic movement, relevant muscle, and neurological signs when indicated.

What treatment may involve

Manual work to restricted cervical and thoracic joints and related soft tissue, plus practical changes to desk or training load. Dry needling of the shoulder girdle may be discussed. Home exercises is small and specific.

What you can do between visits

Raise the screen. Stand up between calls. Avoid aggressive neck cracks on yourself. Use only the movements given in the appointment.

When to see a GP or go to emergency

Seek urgent care after a significant accident, or if neck pain arrives with unexplained fever, rapidly worsening arm weakness, new unsteadiness, or the worst headache of your life.
